In the early 1880s, a compounding pharmacist in Germany named Alexander Heinrich von der Beeck was experimenting in his pharmacy with a solution of 100% grain alcohol and some herbal extractions (including menthol, camphor, a local pine oil, and a few others). First, he used the cleanest alcohol he could get and combined it with his tinctures. He developed an extremely effective solution for colds, bronchial problems, congestion and coughs. He poured it into the regular brown medicine bottle, stuck his handwritten label on it, and soon it became the go-to product for everything “cold.” As he experimented and improved his “Eau Natural de Herbes,” he noticed that his normally very stiff hands were less painful, more relaxed, and not as swollen after long hours in the laboratory handling his solution.

He then applied it regularly to his arthritic hands and was amazed at how much better his fingers became at gripping and manipulating his mortars and pestles and filling bottles and jars with his remedies. He soon decided to add more beneficial herbal tinctures to his base formulation, so he sought out other pain-relieving herbs and plants.

Over the years he added juniper oil, eucalyptus (when it was available from Australia), rosemary from Italy, lavender from France for relaxation and many others that offered benefits to relieve the pain of arthritis, rheumatism, aches and pains from everyday physical Ease work burdens. Doctors “prescribed” the product to their patients and told them: Go to the von der Beeck pharmacist and get your medication.

His solution became widely known and Alexander von der Beeck became known as the pharmacist who invented the miracle water. Thus began the long and storied history of the product that eventually received the name Kool 'N Fit. The pioneering pharmacist left the formula for this wonderful solution and much more to his son, who followed in his father's footsteps. And so began a family tradition that continues unbroken to this day. Since then, with only rare interruptions (due to the First and Second World Wars), the solution has been sold in von der Beeck pharmacies, of which there were several. In fact, there is still one of the Beeck pharmacies in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

In 1984, after reviewing the "old-fashioned" analgesic selection here in the United States, a descendant of Alexander, whose father had inherited the formula, decided to market the product in America. And so a new chapter began. In the early years the solution was a no-brainer, but it was soon modernized into a user-friendly “Atomizing Spray Application”. Kool 'N Fit was the first sprayable analgesic in the USA!

It soon became a favorite of elite athletes in many sports, while massage therapists and chiropractors praised the many benefits the product offered users.
